The focus of my research project revolves around exploring how mobile applications can enhance organizational processes. Specifically, I aim to evaluate the Parent Square app, which has recently been introduced to CPS parents as a communication model to facilitate the sharing of guidelines and school information. This application also provides parents with a private chat platform to interact with schoolteachers, principals, and other staff members.
I firmly believe that conducting my research within the CPS community will provide valuable insights into the impact of the Parent Square app. By engaging in conversations with parents and gathering more information from CPS, I aim to comprehensively assess the app’s effectiveness in improving communication between parents and educators. Additionally, I intend to examine how it has enhanced parental involvement in school events and activities.
Here are some of the ways I will be working to conduct my research:
1. Interview parents from different communities to find out their opinions about the application of Parent Square.
2. Look for current information that will help me know how many families have the Parent Square app and which do not.
4. Interview teachers to find out if having the Parent Square application has improved communication between parents and teachers.
5. Interview the Family Liaison to know if sharing flyers and information in Parent Square about events in the school has been successful in the participation of parents.
These insights are crucial to conducting an effective investigation that will contribute to the successful completion of my thesis. I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to share my research findings and recommendations with CPS, thereby potentially benefiting the school community.
I am not only a dedicated student pursuing my master’s degree but also a parent with two children attending Cambridge Public School. My personal experience as a CPS parent further motivates me to explore ways in which technology can enhance the educational experience within the CPS ecosystem.
