Use this Informative Speech Topic Fad Diet to write this outline.

 

Develop a single, full sentence outline for the assignment. This means that every element (with the exception of the Speech Title and the titles of your main points) of the outline is summarized in 1 full sentence. Refer to the lecture on Chapter 8 for reference as well.

 

Note: Do NOT write out your speech word-for-word. Paraphrase / summarize the content of each element. You will then elaborate on each element in your speech. 

 

Submit the outline as a Word / PDF file directly to me through this assignment.

 

Outline Format

Title

 

Thesis Statement – In a sentence state the central theme of the speech / what your speech will be about.

 

Introduction:

Attention Getter – In a sentence state what type of attention getter you plan on using (e.g. story / quote / statistic / startling fact / etc.)

Justification – In a sentence summarize how the topic is relevant to the audience and why the audience should listen. 

Credibility – In a sentence state what makes you an expert on the topic.

Purpose Statement – In a sentence state your specific purpose statement, communicating the goal of the speech. (Remember the “Formula” for your specific purpose statement.)

 

Organizational Pattern – In what organizational pattern/style are you organizing your main points?

 

Main Point #1 – Title

1st Supporting Point – Summarize the content in a sentence. Then, between parentheses state your source: ( “Author, Title, Date”). 

2nd Supporting Point – Summarize the content in a sentence. Then, between parentheses state your source: ( “Author, Title, Date”). 

 

Transition – Write out your transition word-for-word (1 sentence).

 

Main Point #2 – Title

1st Supporting Point – Summarize the content in a sentence. Then, between parentheses state your source: ( “Author, Title, Date”). 

2nd Supporting Point – Summarize the content in a sentence. Then, between parentheses state your source: ( “Author, Title, Date”).

Tieback – State how you will be tying back to your intro (maybe by restating your thesis…?)

Final Thought – Indicate what tool you will use for your final thought (e.g. restating your quote from your attention getter / finish the story from your attention getter / refer back to the statistic from your attention getter)

 

Label your sources as “Online / print / broadcast / expert interview / etc.
