and analyze how the rhetorical devices – ethos, pathos, and logos— are presented in the essay and how the argument is constructed. In other words, how does the author use rhetorical devices to develop their argument and persuade their audience of the argument they are making?
Begin your rhetorical analysis with an introduction that presents an overview of the topic of your essay. Your introduction should not include any direct quotes, but should be a full-sized paragraph.
• Include a thesis statement in BOLD.?Your thesis statement should argue which rhetorical device is the primary rhetorical device of the essay (ETHOS) AND why that is significant in understanding the argument being made by the author.

Next, include at least six body paragraphs analyzing how the author uses each rhetorical device to support their argument.
* Include at least one paragraph for each rhetorical device-ethos, logos, and pathos— analyzing how the author uses that rhetorical device to support their argument.
* Decide the primary rhetorical device you want to use (ETHOS) and distribute THREE body paragraphs
* For at least three body paragraphs you will need to incorporate one of the templates from “They Say” into your writing. Indicate the templates in BOLD.
* Include ONE direct quote in EACH body paragraph to support the claims you are making, but DO NOT include more than one quote per paragraph. Most of your essay should focus on analyzing the argument the author is making through rhetorical devices.
Wrap up your rhetorical analysis with a conclusion paragraph. In your conclusion, explain why the argument presented in the essay you’re analyzing is important to consider. Your conclusion should not include any direct quotes, but should be a full-sized paragraph.

* An introduction paragraph, with a thesis statement in BOLD
* At least one paragraph on EACH rhetorical device(ethos, logos, pathos) with one direct quote per paragraph
* IMPORTANT: include at least THREE paragraphs on the rhetorical device you identify as the primary rhetorical device of the author’s essay in your thesis statement. (WE’RE GOING WITH ETHOS)
* A conclusion paragraph
* Include at least THREE templates from “They Say” in They Say/I Say in BOLD
* Correct MLA parenthetical citations
