•The purpose of this assessment is to build on your understanding of the theory and perspectives covered in your course materials, as you will consider how these understandings inform play-based approaches in early childhood education. You will develop presentation skills as you communicate your understanding of an identified play-based approach, highlight the value of play, and explain learning and teaching in play-based approaches. Importantly, you will advocate for children’s right to play and put theory into practice by identifying a play-based learning experience for children aged 2-3 years.

•For this assessment, you are required to draw on your understanding of the Sociocultural theory identified in course materials (and beyond). Using this information create a brief PowerPoint presentation that explains the approach and how it can be demonstrated in children’s play, also•-Refer to the Vignette in the Assessment 2 section of Moodle and highlight how it links to Cognitive & Sociocultural theory.

 

·Explains a play-based approach to early childhood education, identifying influential theories/perspectives of Sociocultural theory.·Highlights the critical importance of play for children`s wellbeing, development, and learning·Demonstrates an understanding of the role of the teacher in planning for and supporting diverse learners within  play-based learning experiences

 

 

Your presentation should communicate ideas clearly and professionally as if you were going to present to families at an information session about play-based approaches to learning in an early childhood setting. It is a requirement that you support your ideas with references to theory, legislated frameworks and other relevant literature using APA7 referencing style. It will be important to read the marking criteria carefully to ensure you meet the requirements of the task.
