Watch Piaget: Theory of Cognitive Development  (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TA9GYqXzIhc) and tell your classmates why it is important that you know about this stage and the level you plan to teach.

So, if you plan to teach preschool you would talk about the preoperational stage.

After watching Erikson’s 8 Stages of Development Theor.  9 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LvWfct9sHOY) tell your classmates which stage the students you plan to teach will be and what you may expect to see in regards to their emotional and social growth.

Kohlberg used storytelling methods in order to display different levels of morality. His most famous example is known as the Heinz Dilemma.

After watching Kohlberg’s Stages of Moral Development  (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0axVjiTe9Q) tell your classmates what you thought Heinz should do and why? Which stage in Kohlberg’s moral development  were you at?

Take The Ace Quiz-And Learn what it Does and Doesn’t Mean   (https://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2015/03/02/387007941/take-the-ace-quiz-and-learn-what-it-does-and-doesnt-mean) Why is it important to know how many ACEs a child might have? How does this relate to Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs?

Go to this website about Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) (https://www.cdc.gov/violenceprevention/aces/index.html) and watch the video about ACEs. Then review the Vital Signs Fact Sheet (https://www.cdc.gov/vitalsigns/aces/pdf/vs-1105-aces-H.pdf)Tell your classmates one fact that resonated with you and why. What can you do in your classroom?

Read this information brief on Least Restrictive Environment (LRE)  (https://iris.peabody.vanderbilt.edu/wp-content/uploads/pdf_info_briefs/IRIS_Least_Restrictive_Environment_InfoBrief_092519.pdf)

Were you surprised by the number of ways that special education services might be provided to students with disabilities? What is your experience with students with disabilities as you grew up and attended school? Share with your classmates. Will you feel comfortable with having students with disabilities in your class (see expectations for teachers on slide 22)?

Here is an image regarding accessibility. Reflect and share your thoughts on what you think this means for you as an educator. Here is an article that discusses this more
