Use the following sample outline to help you structure your outline for the Partial Draft of the Example Essay. Remember these important details:
Your thesis should state your claim and forecast the examples in the order to be discussed in the essay. Give two revisions of your thesis (applying what you learned about writing effective thesis statements in Lesson 2).
Remember to choose one of the following methods of organization: chronological, order of importance, or order of increasing complexity.
Sample Topic Outline for Example Essay Draft
Thesis: Television is a good educational tool.
Revision #1: Television provides a valuable educational format for preschool children in many ways.
Revision #2: Television provides a valuable educational format for preschool children by helping to develop reading skills, math skills, and social skills, as seen in the program Sesame Street.
Introduction
I. Reading skills developed
A. Special letter of day such as “B” highlighted during show
Introduced by character in show such as Big Bird
2. Reinforced throughout show by various characters
B. Words with that special letter presented throughout show in various situations
II. Math skills developed
A. Numbers from one to ten introduced by characters such as Bert and Ernie
B. Basic math taught through counting led by Count Dracula in particular
III. Social skills developed
A. General good manners such as cooperation reinforced by Maria and others
B. Coping with life’s realities taught such as when Mr. Hooper died

Create in outline form; please do not submit a rough draft or partial draft rather than an outline. That is a separate assignment.
Use phrases rather than sentences
No periods
Use at least two entries (A, B) under each Roman numeral

Note: when you write the first draft of this essay, the Partial Draft of the Example Essay, you will only be writing the Intro, one body paragraph, and the conclusion, but you will include the outline for the other two paragraphs. The rest of the essay will be written as you complete the Revised Exemplification Essay.
