Johnson, is a great choice for an elementary teacher to read to their students. The story centers around Faith, a middle school student who is anxious about fitting in. Through joining the school’s soccer team, the Bloodhounds, and forming a bond with her teammates, Faith learns valuable lessons about loyalty, identity, friendship, and unity. The language structures and patterns used by the author are appropriate for the developmental levels of middle childhood and the plot is complex enough to keep the children engaged but simple enough for them to understand. The characters are well developed, with strong traits that middle schoolers can relate to, and they help to illustrate the themes of self-acceptance, resilience and friendship that are presented in the book. In this part of the paper, state the name of the book you read and provide a very brief summary of the plot.  After providing the summary, devote the rest of this section to a discussion of why you think an elementary teacher would choose this particular book for the students to read. Consider developmental levels of middle childhood and describe ways in which the book mirrors and supports this stage of development. Consider such things as the types of language structures and patterns used by the author, the complexity of the plot, the trait descriptions of the characters, and the pivotal themes presented in the book. Relate those components of the book to key physical, cognitive, social, and emotional aspects of children in this age group. Use bold print to distinguish eight relevant terms, concepts, principles, or theories that apply to your discussion and provide clear examples of their application.. Use your own words to describe the relevant concepts and use examples from the book you read to demonstrate what you are describing.  Choose a child character from the book to write about in this section of the paper. Write about a child (or childlike, if your characters were not human) character in the book – Discuss your impressions of the character’s cognitive, social, and emotional development based on his/her dialogue and actions in the book. Use specific concepts from the book you read to demonstrate his/her perspectives or level of understanding in relation to capacities or limitations of his/her age group. Use bold print to distinguish eight relevant terms, concepts, principles, or theories that apply to your discussion of the character and provide clear examples of their application. Do not use any of the same concepts as you used in the first section of the paper. Use terms and concepts from the book (including chapter reference) in describing the character’s behavior. Be sure to use your own words to describe the relevant concepts and use examples from the book to demonstrate what you are describing.  Arts & HumanitiesEnglish
