2013). This was an instance of providing culturally competent care per her explanation – a
judgement shared by other nurses (Farmer, R., 2014).
Brady concluded that when racism is observed, regardless of the form it takes, the
statement it makes about the individual is quite particular and basic to the core of the person. In
a phone conversation with Kanwal, she denied anything was wrong, saying “What I did was
within my scope of practice.” (Phone call, 2016).
