We have a pretty crazy household between me, my partner, our kid, 3 dogs, and a cat. There’s always something going on, which keeps things entertaining. This is my second time attending UWW and I am currently a senior, majoring in Human Performance with Allied Health Foundations as my minor. I hope to go straight to grad school after this year to pursue my DPT (Doctorate in Physical Therapy).Honestly, I was looking for another class that I thought would be beneficial for my future career, and I stumbled upon this class and thought it might be a good addition. I am excited to learn more about health literacy and after looking over the syllabus, I am looking forward to reading the material shared in class. Something that I hope to get out of this class is how to write formal papers when it comes to medical communication and health literacy.2. Hello, my name is Chad Richards I’m twenty-two years old, I’m a senior and my major is Communications and my minor is marketing. What brought me towards this course is that I needed to choose between a couple more courses that led towards my major. This course fits that role perfectly not only for this role but its value in application to the outside world and role in problem solving, which itself is a skill highly valued by employers. For example, medical communication often involves explaining complex medical concepts in simple terms. Health literacy professionals are tasked with finding creative ways to convey health information to varying audiences. This is just one general concept in how health literacy and communication is vital in our communities and in turn doing so will help improve my creativity, communication skills, health literacy and many more functional skills to add to my skillset this is what I hope to achieve and get out of this course.  3. My name is Karsen. I am in my last semester of school before graduation, and am a communications major (minoring in marketing). I am taking this course as an elective credit towards my graduation requirements, and I hope to learn more about the overall topics of literacy and it’s affects in the health field. Although I don’t necessarily think this will pertain to my career directly, I do think that the knowledge about differences among populations of people (and their literacy skills) will prove to be helpful in my travels and life.  I expect I will cross paths with different people through my upcoming sales job, and having a general understanding of what will be learned throughout this course will give me good background knowledge of communication skills and literacy levels across the country. Arts & HumanitiesEnglish
