A story intimidates the sacrifices mothers who work as nannies a board faces. Mothers for dollars explores the pain and guilt of choosing money over motherhood.Pursuing money for a better life ends up generating regrets seen in the narrator’s life for not being there as her children grew up. She regrets missing birthdays and other significant life events while she was away. (Sampang2015) gained this feeling because of what her daughter said, ” she went away because she did not love them. Forgetting that she went away to provide a better life for them .They can have a good education and lots more.Secondly she talk about how the pain she went through while she was aboard and her three children in a home country under the care of her mother. (Sampang 2015) stated that she constantly think of her children all the hugs and kisses that she was missing. Unable to hold her kids hugging and kissing them may have caused hurt and pain leading to depression.Thirdly she leaves with guilt knowing her kids are all grown up married with their own family. The time she spend away providing for them to have a better education and only one of her kids managed to get a University Degree. She is still stuck in the past thinking of them as the little ones she left back in her home country. She visits them often, takes them shopping and tries to do all that she misses during their tender years. It is true that working aboard helps your family back home with living expenses making the cost of living cheaper, but i am against it. Leaving three children behind and not once trying to bring them aboard was not so good on the mother’s end. These children needed her love, attention and much more. I am sure there are many ways to have your family with you but this mother shows that she only cared about the brand name jeans and better education which is a good thing to have but not once she thought of what her kids must have gone through without her. She put other children before her very own because of money. I think it would have been a good idea to have her kids with her, maybe things would have turned out better with school for her kids. Who knows maybe she tried and the process of getting them aboard she could not afford. Living abroad can cause hardship especially if you are on your own and have to work and provide for yourself and your family in your home country. Also the application process can take a very long time.To conclude working aboard many thinks it’s the best life ever. Even today many people still leave their family behind to go aboard for a better life not knowing what the cost is or what to expect. Leaving your family behind can cause you to live in constant regrets, pain and guilt.   Arts & HumanitiesEnglish
