Imagine you are the classroom teacher for the student you did not select for the Topic 5-7 assignments. Review that student’s profile carefully on the “SEC-350 Literacy Case Studies” topic Resource to learn about the student. Using the topic Resources and your own research, complete the “SEC-350 Planning Literacy Instruction” template for the selected student. use the direction below to plan the instruction.

Directions: Read the case study for the student not selected for the Topic 5-7 assignments. Using what you know about the student,complete the planning chart below to outline a content area lesson based on national or state content area and literacy standards. The lesson should be individualized for the selected student and should include opportunities for the student to learn, practice, and master content area academic language. Complete the “Reflection” section at the bottom of the chart and support the assignment with a minimum of one scholarly resource in the “References” section.

Additional Application of Vocabulary and Comprehension Skills: (In 1-2 sentences, describe two ways the student will be encouraged to apply the vocabulary and literacy skills and strategies he is practicing in other content areas/classroom situations.)

 

Reflection: In 250 words, address the following:•Explain how the lesson addresses the student’s specific literacy needs including a discussion about how you developed the plan based upon knowledge of the student, learning theory, and making literacy connections across the curriculum.•Provide research-based justification for the vocabulary and literacy strategies you selected and explain why you think they will be effective in meeting the student’s specific needs.References: Cite a minimum of one scholarly resource to support the chart content.
