What makes a good comment? The criteria for a good discussion post comment is the same as the criteria for a good blog post comment.

Comment: I agree / I disagree / I think… (Point out something significant or important in the post.)
Support: Because … (Give a reason for your comment. Back it up.)
Question: I wonder if…? Have you considered…? (This is optional, but it extends the conversation which is ideal!)
Be Polite: It’s important to be a good digital citizen and to conduct yourself online in a way that is polite and respectful of other peoples’ ideas.

When talking about yourself and someone else I have always been told it’s, “My friend and I”. I thought it was intriguing to see the point brought up in David Marsh’s article, 10 Grammar Rules You Can Forget: How To Stop Worrying And Write Proper. In this article it states that sometimes it makes more sense to use “me” instead of “I”. Although I do believe that saying “my friend and I” sounds more formal, I do not believe it is correct for all situations. For an example, if I am with my friends I would never say, “My friends and I are going out to eat”. Instead I would always say, “me and my friends are going out to eat”. To me, this way sounds more clear and makes it more obvious that these are my friends. When changing “my friend and I” into third person it sounds like, “John’s friend and John”, whereas when the sentence “me and my friend” is converted into third person you get, “John and his friend”, the second sentence derived from “me and my friend” is a lot more clear and concise compared to the sentence derived from “my friend and I”. As a result of this I believe David Marsh made a great point about there being good times to break this rule and use “me and my friend” instead.
