Directions
As you prepare to transition from your educational experience in Early Childhood Education to your professional experience in ECE, you will need to consider how employers will be able to assess your readiness to become an educator at their company or in their facility.
The six CDA competency standards are a great place to start to examine your readiness to become an Early Childhood Educator. These standards are divided into 13 functional areas.
When you begin to prepare your career exploration in Early Childhood Education, it is important to identify course artifacts that best represent your competence in each CDA functional area for use in a professional portfolio. This exercise will allow you to begin assembling artifacts for use in a future portfolio.
Please follow the steps below:
For each of the thirteen functional areas, attempt to find a course artifact that demonstrates your competency in this area. You can use the prompting questions provided in the Week 2 Gap Analysis Report to jog your memory on which areas you may have already completed or feel you are progressing towards. Also here is a list of classes you have already taken to help you search for past projects:

If you have experience in the ECE field, you can also draw on your experience and artifacts from your experience. So, you can utilize these experiences and artifacts (such as lesson plans, menus, and other observations) to complete this table.
If you have an artifact that meets multiple competencies, you can use the artifact in multiple columns.
Identify completed projects from past courses that you feel directly relate to those functional area. Then, embed the artifact (file) directly into the corresponding space on the table.
