1. For this initial post, you will need to answer each of the questions below thoroughly and thoughtfully, using complete sentences. As you watch each video, take notes for each of the questions below so that you are preparing your Initial response. Also consult the textbook chapters for this module to give you additional ideas for your Discussion posts; at minimum, reference the textbook at least two times with page numbers.
Important Notes: Remember that when you submit a “Reply,” all of your classmates will be able to see what you wrote, so keep in mind that Discussions require you to use academic and respectful communication. Make sure you review common netiquette (Internet etiquette) practices before you post, and make sure you remain respectful and kind at all times in this Discussion!

Related to all three videos: Based on what you are seeing in the videos, how do perception and empathy affect our interpersonal communication?

Questions To “Answer” in Replies to Classmates
Your interpersonal communication is improved when you can see multiple perspectives. Look for some alternative perspectives communicated by your classmates. How do their ideas or perceptions change your mind a bit or help you see a new point? Explain.
Did anything stand out to you related to empathy you noticed another classmate exhibit in their response to a peer?

Write Paragraph 1, Chapter 5 Reflection: Work through the “Assessing Your Communication: Your Empathy Quotient” section on page 143 of your textbook. Use the textbook assessment section to gather ideas for answers to the following questions. Answer the questions using full sentences to create one paragraph.
Summarize your findings-what does the test show/state about your empathy?
How satisfied are you with your findings? Are there ways in which you agree or disagree with the results?
What can you do to improve your overall empathy?
Write Paragraph 2, Chapter 8 Reflection: Work through the “Assessing Your Communication: Your Listening Styles Parts 1-4” section on page 215 of your textbook. Use the textbook assessment section as a guide to answering the following questions. Answer the questions using full sentences to create one paragraph.
How satisfied are you with your scores?
What type of listener, as described in the textbook, are you?
What might you do to improve related to the scores you received?
