This course has provided me with the opportunity to explore different aspects of writing, research, and analytic skills through various assignments and activities. Reflecting on my experiences, I have gained valuable insights into my strengths and weaknesses as a writer and have developed strategies to improve my skills for future endeavors.   In the Initial Writer’s Statement Assignment, I engaged in conversation with one of the first pair of Opening Conversations essays for Unit 1: Interacting with Texts. It was a thought-provoking exercise that required me to engage with the author’s ideas and arguments and express my own perspective, which helped me form my own opinions and responses. This initial assignment set the tone for the course, emphasizing the importance of thoughtful engagement with texts. The Interacting with Texts Project Assignment further developed my writing and analytical skills. Through engaging with the writing process and experimenting with writing choices and their effects, I discovered new insights and developed a critical and purposeful response to a published essay. This assignment also taught me the importance of representing a writer’s ideas fairly through summary, paraphrase, and quotations, which is essential for effective communication and understanding. Adding to a Conversation Project assignment provided an opportunity to conduct research and contribute to a meaningful discussion. Choosing my own intervention and audience, I delved into the topic that resonated with me. This assignment highlighted the importance of research and how it contributes to enriching a conversation. I had to navigate through various sources, critically evaluate the information, and present my own thoughts in a way that added value to the existing discussion. The Circulating Multimodal Texts w/Bibliography Assignment challenged me to illustrate the most salient points of a conversation in a new way for a widespread audience. This assignment reinforced the importance of clear and convincing communication and the connection between context and evidence. By presenting key concepts, arguments, counterarguments, and calls to action in a visually engaging format, I was able to reach a broader audience and make a more significant impact. Reflecting on these assignments and the goals they aimed to achieve, I have learned valuable lessons about the process of writing and revision. I have come to understand that writing is an ongoing process that requires constant refinement and adaptation.
